Review by Irish Examiner - October 2001.
If you like books about animals you should definitely read this
one. It's about an elephant called Mumbo and a hippo called Jumbo,
who live in a forest and have great singing voices.
One day they are captured and are sent to a zoo in New York, but
a professor hears them singing and their future begins to look brighter.
We like the way they can talk and sing. Our favourite character
is Mumbo because she is always telling Jumbo that he is eating too
much or too little.
We didn't like the character Snide Ramsbottom because he is mean
and we hated the way he captured the animals and stole money from
Mumbo and Jumbo.
This book is suitable for seven to eight-year-olds and the language
is easy to understand.
